I'll admit, part of it came from me being bothered by the color order in the original Philly pride flag 😅 Keeping red between brown and orange just seemed slightly visually jarring to me, whereas if you move things around a bit and put orange and brown next to each other, the transition is much more natural feeling/harmonious, IMO. I ended up really lucking out when I looked up the original Gilbert Baker flag and found out that the orange stripe stands for "Healing"; if that wasn't a sign to keep the black and brown stripes next to it, I don't know what would be!
