Gutted to hear that LJ reversed their decision to liberate their code, that one passed me by till I read this. Thanks so much for keeping the drea alive (or should I say keeping the dreamwidth wide ;), and for all your work on this site! I literally had tears in my eyes when I read some of your onboarding documents. There's a lot of love here.
Have you thought about about implementing ActivityPub and joining the fediverse? For example, it would be fun for Hubzilla users to be able to follow and comment on people's blogs here, and vice-versa. Or to be able to make a comment on a blog here using my GNU Social or Mastodon ID, and have it show up on my timeline there, allowing the discussion to continue with all follow-up comments showing up on on both platforms. With MediaGoblin and PeerTube adding AP support, it's going to be easier to embed media in fediverse platforms, extend the reach of people's creative or informational graphics, podcasts, music, videos and so on, without having to put them on datafarms like YT.
