Hello. Transplanted to DW from LJ where even before the new TOS was implemented my blog comments were plagued by a ridiculous amount of Russian p0rnb0ts and spam. So glad THAT has stopped.
I'm Xero, a goth/industrial DJ in New England. SeeDarkly is the publishing/promotions entity my wife and I use to share our projects and creative work.
My blog consists primarily of my playlists from the clubs where I work and the weekly exploration of goth/industrial dark alternative cover songs and their histories, along with a monthly support of dance events in my scene and the thoughts I share infrequently on matters of comic book lore.
So I moved here just weeks before the dark covers blog (SeeDarkly SundayDisCOVERies) has its 2 year anniversary this weekend. On the whole, the import went fine EXCEPT for having to replace EVERY embedded player that presents the featured cover and the original songs that part of my blog shares. In replacing those embeds I found one specific problem and out of necessity I've found another. Maybe someone can assist or perhaps are just issues within DW itself.
1) Bandcamp players will only embed inside a very specific narrow frame (roughly 350px wide by 425px high, I think,) and no matter how the player code is sized it takes up only that amount of space, with anything outside of that "frame" hidden from view and the height of that frame taking up space to leave vertical gaps between content in the code is less than the frame height. I've resorted to making the Bandcamp players basically fit that frame for those entries, but would prefer to make the frame match a wider-than-long presentation that reflects the style on other entries. (640px wide as my constant, vertically thin.)
2) I have the need to embed a player from Reverbnation for the next blog (I try to make sure the music I present in some way benefits the artist, and for this one song there is no other legitimate source.) Testing the embed code and saving the blog, nothing appears and when I edit I find the "embed id" doesn't have any code I saved for the entry. That is to say it looks like this, (actual ID number replaced by #'s, spaces added so it doesn't read as code): site-embed id="###" >< /site-embed
So those are the major issues I'm facing currently here. If there's any help someone can offer, comment/message please. Otherwise I'm finding it pretty great here, even with a few quirks that required some adjustment. Very glad DW exists!
Feel free to follow if you like the blog. I'll be looking around for others to follow myself. Thanks Xero
