People ask about Patreon a bunch -- our accountant makes unhappy faces over anything that looks like "donation without providing services in return", and right now, the overhead of integrating Patreon with our payment/account-type system, creating a reward system that provided concrete rewards that would qualify as services-for-money and motivate people to pay, handling reward delivery, dealing with any problems with rewards, etc, wouldn't be worth it for us. Patreon's great for people who are producing individual works regularly and want an easy payment processing system, but for subscription-based sites that already have a payment/account-structure system that would need to be integrated, it's not always worth it!

People who want to give us money but don't want paid services, or who have a seed account already, can use our gift a user in your circle or gift a random free user or community option!

(Also, PayPal's enforcement is really irregular. It's basically "has a particular site been reported to them or not".)
