May be it is better to contact authors of one of such applications (or more than one - choice is good), and help them to make their apps work with DreamWidth?
It should be much simplier than write new application from scratch.
And I also have stong opinion that it is bad thing when same people doing both server and client. It is better when there are different teams and they have to explicitely voice protocol they are agree to implement.

There are third-party mobile apps which works with LiveJournal API out there, and some of them able to work with DreamWidth.
I, personally, have used ELJay. It works well making new posts, but have some problems with editing existing posts.
