We thought about the "little figure with a hat" but decided against it because it was difficult to make the figure recognizeable! Having a completely different icon also makes it more accessible, as it's a distinct shape (and therefore easier to recognize). As a bonus, the icon set Dreamwidth uses had a cunning little ribbon all ready for use. :)
