We weren't adamant about add-ons in general! (We've always been thinking that we'd offer them someday, actually; we just didn't have the developer time & energy until recently.) We've just been very firm that we can't offer add-ons for free accounts without a corresponding paid account (for reasons I get into above) and that hasn't changed :)

(edit: also, I forgot to give you the link! It's this brainstorming session in dw-biz and in general, you should keep an eye on dw_biz for that type of brainstorming -- it's a very low-traffic comm but we do look for opinions on stuff like this every now and then. *g*)
