I use Flickr. The limitations for a free account are: -- max 200 images/videos. -- You can't host animated gifs there and it messes up PNG files (I convert them to jpeg myself before uploading). -- the largest dimension (width or height) is 1024 pixels -- the sizes offered for posting your image is preset, but there is a way around that: say you want to post an image at (random guess) 345 x 497 pixels. Resize it to that in your picture editor on your computer before uploading it, and the maximum size in the drop-down menu for that image will be 345 x 497.
Those are the annoyances I live with. The positives are: -- free accounts don't expire and remove your images -- I've never come close to exceeding bandwidth -- when an account is full (200 images) I just clear my cookies and create a new account. I must have at least five accounts now. -- while javascript is required to operate the drop-down menu that supplies you with the embed code, everything else still is totally functional without javascript (log-in, upload page, browsing your gallery)
