(Aw, man, I completely forgot that you don't accept PayPal payments and transferred the money to an account we use for PP. Lucky we also have a Visa.)
That said, we completely understand your reasons for not continuing your collaboration with PayPal and very much appreciate the fact that you refused to bend over backwards for them to be able to use their service, and instead chose to stick with your plan, by which I mean your Diversity Statement, your policy, and what you have promised your users. That is one thing that I love about DW.
Then there is the fact that you are and will remain ad-free, the expandable cut tag, the transparency of the staff/business regarding business decisions and what's going on with the site, the never-ending development, the way users can make suggestions about the site and they will be heard.
I love your business plan because it sounds reasonable re: what you want to do with the site and what you (and your users!) want it to be. We originally went from LJ to IJ thanks to the whole Strikethrough business, but although Squeaky does his best, the site's functionality can't compare with DW, and I have doubts about their business plan. Dreamwidth's plan makes paying for a journal more of a serious, practical investment; you get what you pay for, you can count on the service not becoming stagnant, and you can count on the business plan to carry the business long-term.
Long comment is long. What we're trying to say is that we love you guys for what you've done and how you're doing it. Keep up the awesome! :)
