FWIW, I'm not sure it doesn't work just as well this way: instead of one site blacking out, you have the impact of page after page of individual journals going dark or posting statements of opposition. That's a lot of signs on the virtual mall, and it creates a sense of solidarity that I'm not sure we'd get from DW itself going dark for the day.
