Hey all -- I'm sorry about the radio silence for the past few weeks (I've torn my rotator cuff and dislocated my wrist, and have been on minimal-typing for a while). I was hoping things would improve enough for me to do a full update, but enough people have been asking that I'll at least do a quick-hits:

* Check out [personal profile] erika's first Code Tour for development news.

* For the rest of 2011, we're concentrating on Mission: Feature Development. August's hackathon is usability bugs, so if you've been thinking of diving into DW development, check out the usability Bugzilla keyword for a list of the bugs eligible for a points bounty.

* We're increasing the bounty on styles submitted to [site community profile] dreamscapes, to help recognize the fact that creating a style is far more involved than creating a theme.

* Speaking of, there are new styles available for your journal: Five AM is now live, and Crisped and Dusty Foot will be going live with the next code push.

* I've been working on the [site community profile] dw_suggestions backlog, and will be moving more things over to Bugzilla in the coming weeks, so if you haven't stopped by for a while to give your opinion, now's the time.

I will be back with a more detailed update as soon as I can type more reliably! In the meantime, if you're having problems, Support is standing by to help you.

it's very easy! If you come up with something that you want to share, or want to submit for inclusion as a system style or theme, just post to the comm and follow the posting guidelines. You'll need to do a one-time submission of a licensing agreement (it doesn't sign over the rights to anything you produce, just gives us a permanent license to use, re-distribute, and re-license anything you submit to us) so that we're legally in the clear with using your contributions and you're explicitly protected too (by a statement that you retain full rights to any designs/work/etc, and by a statement that we don't expect you to support anything you make and don't hold you accountable for any future problems with the contribution). once you've got that done, it's just "make theme or style, post theme or style to dreamscapes", and the magic pixies (okay, usually [personal profile] ninetydegrees) make it work.

It's got closed membership, yeah (have checked with fu to see if she wants to change that; styles are her area way more than mine), but it's got open posting; you can use the "Post to Community" link on the profile and post even though you're a non-member!

(And no worries about the typing, really. short/small bursts are OK; it's just the extended, concentrated typing that's out! ...okay, and capitalization. capitalization is annoying, since i only ever use the shift key on my left side and it's my left shoulder and wrist that's screwed.)

It has! On LJ, too. It's not a very frequently used community setting, but it's useful for a bunch of the official DW comms (dw-codesharing is set up like that, as is dw-suggestions.)
