Open Beta Launch Date Set
After evaluating our current progress, Mark and I have finalized the open-beta launch date of Dreamwidth Studios:
Thursday, April 30, 2009
The site will open for account creation and paid account sale in the evening (EDT) of April 30. At that time, 200 of the 400 available Seed Accounts will be put on sale ($200 USD). The remaining 200 Seed Accounts will go on sale twelve hours later, on May 1, 2009. (This is to accomodate our users in non-US timezones, and give them equal chance to purchase a Seed Account in the event they sell out quickly.)
Over the next four weeks, prior to open beta launch, we will release a number of invite codes to randomly-selected members of our mailing lists and to existing closed-beta testers to expand our initial userbase. Once we launch into open beta, we will continue to provide codes to our userbase (both those who were closed-beta testers, and those who create accounts after open beta launch).
To create an account once we reach open beta, you can either obtain an invite code from an existing user, or purchase a paid account. Paid accounts start at as little as $3 for one month of paid time, and if you choose to allow your paid account to expire after that, you can continue using it as a free account.
We hope to see you as part of the Dreamwidth community soon.

So, comfort yourself in knowing that if the exchange rate doesn't work out, you can buy paid time year-by-year and be helping us just as much! And thank you for being interested :)

If I fellate the exchange rate, will it go up?

With apologies to those with eyes
Re: With apologies to those with eyes
Fortunately, that's a selling point around here.

(Anonymous) 2009-04-01 07:10 am (UTC)(link)I will wait for open beta and pay for an (normal) accout to create one if nothing works out -
will this be possible for international users who do NOT have a credit card?Well, like I said above, I'd also be happy if I don't have to wait that long :) If someone knows how to put me on the mailing list or wants to gift me with a code (I'd be grateful forever!), please mail me at el.fy @ web.de

Is there a page listing the various features differing between the accounts?
